Psychological counselling by students for students
Dear visitors of our homepage,
We are a group of psychology students who offer psychological counseling every Friday, 2 - 6 p.m.
Counselling:
Counselling takes place every friday from 2pm to 6pm in room 0040 in the AStA building across from VMP 5 (Von-Melle-Park 5). During that consultation time (every friday, 2 to 6 p.m.) you are welcome to come to our room without any appointment and we will call you as soon as counselling is free. New: The first hour (2-3 p.m.) can be reserved for counselling via Zoom. To do this, you need to send an email to Psych-Beratung[at]asta.uni-hamburg.de with the subject Zoom-Termin. Requests which are received by friday 5 p.m. can be expected to be realized the following week.
Note: We still guarantee complete anonymity, so if you like, you can use a synonym or similar instead of your real name.

How we work:
The goal of counselling is not, as in psychotherapy, to change the personality of the client or to treat illnesses. Instead, we understand our work as help for self clarification and orientation. We pay special attention to the personal and social situation of people who come to us and take into account the practical living conditions in which they find themselves.
It is important to us that our counselling takes place at eye level. We are not fully trained therapists and neither want nor can we claim such authority for ourselves. We rely on the co-determination and co-responsibility of those seeking counselling for the course and outcome of the counselling.
As a matter of principle, our counselling takes place under the guarantee of complete anonymity. People who come to us do not have to reveal their name or any other personal data if they do not wish to do so. In addition, as counsellors, we are bound by confidentiality as required by law.
Who comes to us:
In principle, anyone can come to us. Especially if you can't say exactly what your problem is, but you notice that you are discontent.
However, there are some problems that we encounter again and again in our work. For example, we are often approached by students who feel overwhelmed by the pressure to perform in their studies, who aren't able to concentrate as good as they used to or who are constantly feeling exhausted and fatigued. Another common issue is reconciling one's own psychological distress with studying.
