Are you interested in social study support and would like to assist students with questions about BAföG? Then join our team! The AStA is looking for committed students for BAföG counselling who would like to help others navigate the topic of BAföG.
Who we are
In BAföG counselling, we advise students on all legal questions relating to BAföG, such as:
- Change of subject
- Extension of funding
- Advance payment applications
- Appeals in all cases
Your advisory work (6 hours/week) includes:
- 4 hours/week of independent counselling
- Approximately 2 hours/week of team meetings to clarify legal and organisational issues
- Active participation in monthly training sessions with our solicitor
- Supporting those seeking advice in writing applications and appeals
- Researching current case law, independently developing legal topics
- Written and telephone contact with those seeking advice and other institutions (BAföG office, other student services offices, university)
Who we are looking for
We are looking for highly committed, responsible law students who:
- are studying law in their third semester at most
- are very flexible during lecture and non-lecture periods
- are team players and very reliable
- are empathetic when dealing with people
- are interested in legal issues relating to everyday student life, especially administrative and social law
- are willing to analyse the issues presented by those seeking advice from a legal perspective and prepare solutions in a comprehensible manner
- enjoy obtaining information on their own initiative and independently researching relevant legal principles
- have very good verbal communication skills
IMPORTANT:
Long-term and continuous availability is essential for this position. If you are considering a semester abroad or another absence from the area, it is unfortunately not worth applying.
What we offer
- Comprehensive training to prepare you as well as possible for the advisory role
- Approximately 6 months
- 10 hours/week, hourly wage €14
- After successful training:
- Independent consulting 6 hours/week, hourly wage €18
- This is a mini-job employment relationship. The wage includes a volunteer allowance of €70/month. It is therefore important that you do not already use up this allowance in another job.
