Hamburg Congress Against Femicide and Gender-Based Violence21.-23. November 2025
19 November 2025
The alarming figures for femicide and gender-based violence in Germany – as well as worldwide – highlight the immense, for some vital, need for public spaces for exchange and discussion. As a society, we must take greater responsibility together. This includes establishing the connection between ‘everyday’ gender-based violence and lethal violence in order to work together towards a future worth living – a future without fear, threats and violence. With this congress, we want to send a clear message:
(Lethal) violence must finally end!
We will not look away, but stand in solidarity with those affected – as direct or indirect victims of the patriarchal system and as supporters – and together we want to call on and motivate people to take action.
The Congress Against Femicide and Gender-Based Violence will take place from 21 to 23 November 2025 – the weekend before the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women* (25 November) at the University of Hamburg (Von-Melle-Park 9) and the W3 Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik e.V. in Altona (Nernstweg 32 - 34, 22765 Hamburg). The programme consists of various thematic focal points that shed light on the connections between gender-based violence, feminicide, social prevention, activism, research and justice. The three-day programme allows for an in-depth examination of the complexity and diversity of the topic. Conceptually, the programme is based on two central pillars of political education: informing and activating.
The congress offers a platform for people who want to learn more, network and/or get involved. Friday and Saturday are dedicated to providing information, while Sunday offers a variety of ideas, contributions and workshops on how to get involved.
Please note that there may be changes to the programme at short notice. These will be announced on notice boards on site.
Participation is free of charge for everyone. We welcome donations.

The conference aims to be a respectful space for all participants. Sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, and any other discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in exclusion from the event. We want to engage in respectful and supportive discussion and take action together.
The rooms at the University of Hamburg and W3 are partially accessible.
