Cuts at the University of HamburgStudent assembly on Tuesday, 2 December 25

Dear students,

The university is in a difficult situation: ever-increasing tasks are being met with ever-decreasing funds. Our university is structurally underfunded and has to make cuts! For many of us, this is noticeable in the form of missing tutorials, student assistant positions being eliminated, or even the reduction of entire areas of focus.

The situation is already serious, but the university administration has made it clear that this is only the beginning. In the coming years, entire degree programmes and institutes are at risk of being shut down. We cordially invite you to a student meeting where we will address this serious issue:

Tuesday, 2 December 2025 at 12:00 noon, ESA O 221

The meeting will provide answers to the most pressing questions:

• Why does the university have to make cuts?
• How will this affect my studies?
• What can we do about it?

Be sure to come along and let your fellow students know!

Important: If you have a class at the same time, your absence will be excused if you attend the meeting. This should not disadvantage you in your studies. If you are unable to attend in person, there is also the option to participate online. Click here to join.
