Cultural course leaders & tutors wanted for the summer semester!
We are now looking for cultural course leaders and tutors for the coming semester. Are you interested?
The cultural courses/tutorials run for the duration of one semester.
It is planned that the courses will start on 14 April 2025 and run until the end of the lecture period. If you have any questions, please contact us by email: kulturkurs"AT"asta.uni-hamburg.de
You don't have to be an undisputed expert. All you need to be is interested in engaging with scientific topics and cultural aspects together with others in a self-organised setting. It is also perfectly fine if you can only specify the exact dates of your courses afterwards. The important thing for the first registration is that you have an idea of what you want to do - and that you want to do it!
What do we as AStA want with the cultural course programme?
‘It is the idea that studying at university not only opens up better economic and social opportunities, not only promises a career, but also offers the opportunity for a richer development of human potential, for an appropriate fulfilment of one's own destiny.’ - Max Horkheimer
With the cultural course programme, you can make the university a place that is more suited to the task of ensuring the richer development of human potential than is often the case at present. Emancipatory education, critical science and a culture of solidarity can help to achieve this. All too often, the university and our studies are imposed on us by others and restrictive, whereas we rely on the joint revitalisation and appropriation of the university, including with art, culture, music, literature, dance, theatre, reading circles, etc. University is what we make of it!
The AStA usually compensates the costs associated with the conception and continuous implementation of the programme with a fee of €400.
Where does the cultural course programme take place?
In the summer semester 2025, we are planning cultural courses and socio-critical tutorials in presence at the university. The space situation on campus is precarious due to numerous renovations, so we would also like to offer online courses this semester. We are therefore looking forward to receiving applications for both online and face-to-face courses.
If you offer your course online, you are responsible for the technical implementation, unfortunately we cannot provide any technical support.
Organisational matters
The cultural courses and tutorials are self-organised seminars in which students and non-students come together to learn from each other instead of collecting credit points and a culture of competition.
Would you like to make music together with others, perform theatre, dance, engage academically with the explanation and criticism of social grievances and discuss them? Then the cultural courses and tutorials are an opportunity to pursue this interest together! We are looking for tutors for the 2024 summer semester programme.
- The ‘cultural courses’ offer the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of cultural aspects together with others: Learning a new language, theatre, dance, music, photography, painting - there are no limits to your imagination!
- In a mixture of seminar, tutorial and reading group, the ‘Socially Critical Tutorials’ are intended to deal with critical content that is often neglected in a university environment that is increasingly being reduced to its educational function for the labour market.
You can apply until February 17th 2025 right here!
