AStA‘s Mobile Phone Rental Program

Dear students,

From the start of the summer semester 2024, the new semester ticket will be available exclusively in digital form. For most of us, this is not a problem, but not all students can afford a smartphone and are therefore actively excluded from social life. The cheaper ticket will now hit those who are most likely to need the cost reduction. We find this unacceptable. Also from a technical perspective, the HVV's decision to adopt a purely digital version of the ticket is nonsensical. Since the ticket is only valid in conjunction with a photo ID and the code on the ticket only gives information about the name and status as a student, a printable version of the ticket would in no way be impossible. The HVV has decided to exclude people who cannot afford a mobile phone or who do not want to own a mobile phone from their mobility offer. The General Student Committee (AStA) of the University of Hamburg will continue to negotiate with the HVV and try to negotiate an inclusive semester ticket. Until then, however, the AStA of the UHH is forced to take measures to help the affected students. For this purpose, a drop-off point will be set up at the university for still functional smartphones to pass them on to students in need. So if you have old smartphones that are still functional, leave them with us, they really help!
