We are:

The General Students' Committee (AStA) of the University of Hamburg represents student interests vis-à-vis the university and the public. The infrastructure of the AStA also includes the Infotreff or Infocafé. This is the first point of contact for students in the AStA. Here, everyone can get fair trade tea and coffee from the coffee machine, there is space for discussion and exchange, and several current daily and weekly newspapers are available. The AStA advisory service is also located here.

We are looking for:

Someone who would like to join the AStA's Infocafé team. We are therefore looking for someone to take on weekly shifts in the Infocafé. This also includes providing information on student questions and keeping an eye on the running of the café. The Infocafé is open from 10 am to 4 pm. During the lecture-free period, it is also possible to think up projects for redesigning the space or further developing the café. The workload amounts to around 8 hours a week, of which 6 hours are set aside for work during café opening hours.

We expect:

- Knowledge of the structures and processes in the student body and the university, as well as an interest in the processes and current issues in these structures. Furthermore, we expect an empathetic, helpful approach to people and a confident, calm approach, even in difficult situations.

- Good, de-escalating communication skills are also required here.

- A high level of stress tolerance is also necessary, as things can get busy. A sense of responsibility and reliability are essential in day-to-day work.

- Closeness to the political goals of the AStA is highly desirable.

- The willingness to work with the annually changing core AStA and the advisory team must be given.

- At least a good knowledge of German and English in spoken language.

We offer:

A varied job with lots of contact with people and flexible working hours. We also offer the opportunity to learn a lot about university procedures and the legal basis for studying and student finance. The job is limited to one year due to the annual budget planning in the AStA, but can be extended.
