Take to the streets—Stop the dismantling of the welfare state!
24 June 2026
The attacks on the welfare state by the CDU-SPD federal government are intensifying. The failure to increase BAföG funding is also part of this draconian cutback. Nearly 75% of all students who no longer live with their parents are poor, and for most of them, studying full-time is only possible if they work part-time on the side. The Minister of Science simply says that working while studying is no big deal, even though it’s already a reality for 75% of students in Hamburg. This is not only an insult and a devaluation of students’ work, but it also shows that policy is clearly being made against the interests of students.
To protest this, we’ll be taking to the streets on July 3 together with the DGB under the slogan: “No to social cuts—Defenders of the welfare state stand together!”
We’ll start at 3:30 p.m. at Speersort!
