Your new AStA has been elected!

In June, you elected your Student Parliament for the 2026/27 term!
During the first Student Parliament meeting, a vote was held and the new AStA officers were successfully installed.

The election of the new AStA marks not only a change in leadership but also a fresh start in turbulent times. The past term was marked by exciting projects and events, yet it also took place in the shadow of the current budget cuts at the University of Hamburg. These cuts have led to a general shift in the atmosphere among us students, and frustration is growing.

This is exactly where we want to step in and be there for you as your student representatives! Our goal is to continue to play an active role and to resolutely address the many pressing issues on campus. We advocate for you as students and remain visible, both in official committees and on the streets.

We oppose the policy of budget cuts and are fighting to improve our social situation. To this end, we advocate for affordable higher education at the University of Hamburg in the interest of all students, while simultaneously driving forward academic reform. Especially in times of a noticeable shift to the right, we consider our commitment to combating all forms of discrimination and to fostering an open, diverse university to be essential.

It is becoming increasingly clear that global crises do not stop at our university’s doorstep. We acknowledge our responsibility in the climate crisis and are working on various projects to create a sustainable campus, while advocating for climate neutrality at our university. We reject all forms of militarization and advocate for research and teaching for civilian, peaceful purposes, ensuring that the demand for a strong civil clause remains central. A university committed to civil society must also function democratically from within. That is why we are fighting for the democratization of the university, characterized by vibrant participatory decision-making; we defend freedom of expression and academic freedom; and we demand digital sovereignty rather than dependence on large corporations.

In our view, a strong student body needs not only political engagement but also a supportive community. We want to reduce loneliness among students and establish an open-minded campus culture by creating spaces for interaction and personal freedom and by promoting networking among the student body. To this end, all university campuses should be included, and cooperation at every level should be intensified. This means close collaboration with student councils, academic departments, and committees at our university, as well as networking at the regional level with the LAK (State Student Council Conference) and at the national level through the fzs (Free Association of Student Bodies). As a player in city politics, we seek targeted collaboration with social movements, initiatives, and local politicians to bring the interests and concerns of the student body into political debates.
