Gen Z rules! – We're taking to the streets
30 October 2026
As the AStA at the University of Hamburg, we see it every day: dilapidated lecture halls, rising cafeteria prices, BAföG that isn’t nearly enough, and months-long wait times for therapy appointments. These constant crises hit us hard, yet when decisions about our future are being made, we’re ignored.
That is exactly why we, as students, are calling for peaceful protests and supporting the nationwide Generation Z demonstration on October 31!
The spark has long since spread from countries like France and Spain. We refuse to stand by any longer while:
- our universities and social services are being cut to the bone, while billions are poured into military spending.
- Rents and the cost of living are crushing us, while big corporations continue to profit merrily.
- We’re expected to bear the brunt of the crises and are drafted into wars without our consent.
We won’t let ourselves be divided! Whether we’re students, apprentices, or high schoolers, on October 31 we’ll stand together in solidarity, across party lines. Regardless of our background, skin color, or religion, we demand massive investments in education, social security, healthcare, and an affordable standard of living.
