Wanted:                         Employee in the AStA Info Café

From: 16 October 2024 (start of semester)

We are:

 The General Students' Committee (AStA) of Universität Hamburg represents student interests vis-à-vis the university and the public. The AStA's infrastructure also includes the Infotreff or Infocafé. This is the first point of contact for students in the AStA. Here, everyone can get fairtrade tea and coffee from the coffee machine, there is space for dialogue and discussion, and several current daily and weekly newspapers are available. The AStA counselling service is also located here.

We are looking for:

Someone to support the AStA information centre team from the start of the semester. We are therefore looking for someone to take on weekly shifts in the Infocafé. This includes providing information to students' questions and keeping an eye on the running of the café. The Infocafé is open from 9.30 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the lecture period and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the lecture-free period.

We expect:

Good knowledge of the structures and processes of the student body and the university. In addition, we expect an empathetic, helpful approach to people and a confident, calm approach even in difficult situations. Good, de-escalating communication skills are also required.

 A high level of stress tolerance is also necessary, as things can get busy. A sense of responsibility and reliability are essential in day-to-day work.

 Closeness to the political goals of the AStA is highly desirable.

 The willingness to work with the annually changing core AStA and the counselling team must be given.

We offer:

A varied job with lots of contact with people and flexible working hours. We also offer the opportunity to learn a lot about university procedures and legal principles relating to studying and student finance. The job is limited to one year due to the annual budget planning in the AStA, but can be extended.
