Critical-MIN-Students
We are students from the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences at the University of Hamburg who are committed to ensuring that research, teaching and education contribute to the civil and humane development of humanity: through socio-critical scientific content and socially transformative practical relevance for the solution of global problems.
Among other things, we are currently working
- for a reappraisal of the role of the natural sciences in German fascism and the reappraisal of the continuities that still exist after 1945
- for a process of academic reform and emancipatory education instead of exam regimentation and control bureaucratisation
- Enforcement and expansion of the civil clause and critically intervening science
‘The MIN faculty wants to contribute solely to peaceful goals and fulfil only civil purposes. Its members therefore orientate research and development, studies and teaching towards civilian issues and applications.’
(Civil clause in the preamble of the MIN Faculty's statutes)
